This challenge is called the “Spiritual Challenge” and is a challenge for the Spiritual Health Dimension. This is one that I’ve done a few times in life when I really felt the pull to get back on track with my relationship with God. I recommend when you make any change or do any challenge, you have an initial goal to do it every day for at least 28 days- this is the time it takes to form a habit. I’ve read devotions or books of the Bible every day for various lengths of time. You can see some of my favorites on my Goodreads account. I also recommend listening to Drive Time Devotions by Pastor Tom Holladay if you like the idea of an audio devotion you can listen to on the go.
The Challenge: Connect with God every day for a month
If you don’t have a relationship with God, religion, or faith, this challenge is a great place to start. Also, feel free to Contact me and talk about it more in-depth!
For current believers, the idea is to add something to your spiritual life that will give you a deeper relationship with God and help you to be more naturally dependent on Him throughout your day. If you choose to do this challenge, don’t change your normal routine. For instance, I make a point to pray every day, and I continued doing it throughout this challenge in addition to the devotions I read. The goal is to add more time with God.
Prep: Prepare for this challenge by:
- Material: Research different books, devotionals, apps, or books of the bible to see what you are most interested in and what you feel you need most right now in your life. If you aren’t praying daily, maybe this is what you will choose to do. Maybe it will be listening to a Christian radio station. Whatever you choose, make a plan you can stick to.
- Schedule: Make sure that you are actively scheduling time to do this in your day. Even if it is only something that will be 10 minutes, make sure it is at a time where you can focus and give your best to God.
- Focus: I am personally guilty of having times when I’m tired or distracted while trying to spend time with God and end up not even remembering what I read or heard. Actively wrap your mind around what the Holy Spirit is trying to do in you through this time.
There is so much you can gain from spending time with God on a daily basis. I will definitely add more specific challenges from the Spiritual Health Dimension. But, for now, I thought it was important to have this challenge posted because I truly believe our relationships with God is the most important thing in this life. He created us. He loves us. We are His children. He wants a relationship with each of us. He wants the best for us in every situation. And he knows each of us better than we know ourselves. Give your time with Him, talk to Him, and let Him work in your life!
